Are these bearings suitable for continuous saltwater exposure?
Yes. The AISI 440C stainless steel construction offers excellent resistance to saltwater corrosion, making them ideal for rudders, shafts, pumps, winches, and other exposed deck equipment. However, no bearing is completely immune; periodic rinsing and re-lubrication will extend service life.
Do stainless steel bearings need lubrication?
Yes. All rolling-element bearings require lubrication. These marine-grade bearings are pre-greased. For open or shielded versions, use a high-quality marine grease. In submerged or high-humidity applications, select a waterproof NLGI 2 marine grease.
